Distribution of your Contingency Plan to your nominated Executive Officer in the case you become incapacitated, unwell or pass away unexpectedly
From just $9.20pw you can nominate CPMA as your AHPRA-registered Executive Officer to comply with the 2025 Code of Conduct requirements
Why Do I Need A Practice Contingency Plan?
Contingency Plans are a must for all clinicians to ensure client files are securely stored and managed in the event you become unwell, incapacitated or pass away unexpectedly. Under the incoming Psychology Board of Australia Code of Conduct, psychologists are required to have a Practice Contingency Plan in place by December 1, 2025.
A nominated Executive will have access to your files and manage them for the required timeframes for psychology - 7 years for adult clients and until the age of 25 for child clients.
Too frequently, colleagues or family members are left with the burden of accessing software and files, contacting clients and making onwards referrals in emergency circumstances - causing undue and excess stress during an already challenging time. Clients can be left wondering, "Who is managing my file in the case I need access or if it is subpoenaed in the future?", "How do I have my file transferred to my new treating clinician?" or "Now my clinician has died who has access to my file?"
A good Contingency Plan that is securely stored and released only to your nominated AHPRA-registered Executive is an insurance policy to protect your clients, colleagues and family members and meet your professional obligations to your clients, now and into the future.
What If I Don't Have A Nominated Executive?
If you don't have an AHPRA-registered colleague to nominate as the Executive Officer in your Contingency Plan - don't worry, you can nominate CPMA. We are owned and managed by AHPRA-registered Psychologists and are equipped to manage the confidentiality and legal requirements of secure client information and file storage, assessing information requests, completing referrals and subpoena requests.
CPMA can collect and digitise hard copy files for secure online storage for required timeframes - 7 years for adult clients and until the age of 25 for child clients. You can be confident knowing that your professional responsibilities are covered and your clients' privacy and professional needs are protected.
